Storms and Friends that Rock

Where has the last month gone - oh ya, storms. Storms, storms more storms. And trying to work in between power outages.

Two weeks ago we had "beautiful to look at but deadly to power lines and trees" ice storm - lost the power for four days but even worse lost a lot of trees. None of the ones in my yard had to be totally cut down, but they're much smaller and I'm hoping they'll survive it - they've been there since I was a kid with a tire swing. Yesterday and today another storm, this time over a foot of snow and high winds. Another one coming on Wednesday. We are the magnetic north pole for storms!! Now there's something you don't want to be.

But in between my storms one of you rocked - ok, you all rocked but one of you will be singled out. Michelle, lovely Michelle, sent a box with presents she made herself - beautiful knitted hats and hairbands that are already getting a huge workout and looking lovely while they do it! And of course there was volcanic ash for Lane (he's taking it to school for show and tell) and Washington sand & shells for Asha (most of the sand is in my carpet now, mingling with the red Island sand). I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the lovely PETA stickers and the tsunami evacuation route sticker - I'm still trying to figure out the best way to mess with people with THOSE, heh. So Michelle, you made our storms seem a little better and much more fashionable :)

Other than that it's just been work, a little dating here and there (one really good horror story I'll save for another day), life - the usual stuff. Here are some pictures of the destruction so you'll all know why I don't invite you to visit in the winter.

Snow.....snow......snow

Okay, which bunch of you asked for snow for xmas, cause it all got delivered here by mistake! I'm kind of enjoying it, guess I'll never grow up.

New Years Eve - well it wasn't terribly exciting so I'll spare you the details. I did make a new years resolution though - "I will be smarter in my love life choices." Then I promptly broke it. Mike (yes, that Mike) came over for a couple of days. I know he means well, but I don't expect to hear from him again for a while. And I'm actually okay with that. Maybe my resolution still stands?

Other than that my kidless week has been pretty much one snow day after another. Sledding is my new pastime, and I'm very jealous of anyone with a skidoo right now. I'm thinking of taking up skiing or snowboarding. I'm going to expand my circles....broaden my horizons....it could all tie in, right?

I've also decided I'm going somewhere this spring....I'm thinking Cuba.

So how is everyone else's 2008 so far?

Yes well.....

It's almost 2008, so happy 2008 everyone since I have no idea if I'll get here again before that. I hope all of your wildest dreams come true in the new year, or at least the one you want the most.

I have no idea what I'll be doing for new year's eve this year - not that it matters that much, it's so totally anti-climatic. As usual these days we're supposed to get more snow that day, so maybe I'll stay home and drink and write silly notes to all of you, haha. Or maybe I'll just see what's on the tube.

I've self-adjusted my thyroid meds and I feel mucho better....not thinking so much of driving my truck off the road anyway, so that's gotta be a good thing, right???? Awesome Christmas here for the kiddies, then they proceeded to drive me stark raving mad and now they're gone with daddy for a week so I'm much more relaxed now. I think they still need schedules even though it's a holiday - who woulda known? I on the other hand love to sleep in, so decisions decisions!

Yup, 2007.....I don't have anything inspirational to say about it, had it's ups and downs, it was another year. So here's to 2008 being more inspirational!!!!

It's the little things....

I'm so happy in my unhappy melancholy kind of way. Why you ask? I just found out my thyroid is screwed up again and I'm not going insane! See, it's the little things.

I don't think I ever talked about how I felt when I was pregnant with Lane, about thinking how much easier it would be if I jumped in front of a subway train or swerved the truck into traffic. I never even told my doctor how bad it was....but when she did some blood tests and told me my thyroid was low and I wasn't going insane I felt so much better. Well a couple of months ago I started feeling really down again. I kept putting it off on work changes, weather changes, etc. But then I finally went to see my doctor and told her I'd been having some problems.....blood test, thyroid whacked again. I should learn.

Anyway, she's going to up my meds, I'll go back to being my happy optimistic self (or closer to it anyway) and you'll all wish I was depressed again when I won't shut up.

Merry xmas to me....

What to write....?

What do I want to write about?

We had a freak storm here last week - not freak cause it was a snowstorm, that happens here sometimes (usually not this damn early though!). The high winds knocked our power out for a day and a half, but some people went a week. Wet snow....ice....high winds....the power poles snapped like toothpicks. What a mess! Our power has been out a couple of times since cause the lines are still a mess. Ah, country livin!

Other than that life is pretty damn dull. I started xmas shopping finally - it's not my season at all though. I'm starting to hate it actually. Somebody send me some xmas spirit....oh wait, I have a full 40 of vodka, haha. That IS what they mean by xmas spirit, isn't it? Or does it have to be something green and red. Things to ponder. I think I'm going through some kind of depression thing actually, so I'm staying away from the booze. Besides, drunk dialing is not pretty.

Ho ho ho.

Funnies

Kids are great, most of the time.....

Tonight we were going to the xmas parade in the crick and my sister decided to come with us. It was pretty cold out, so I told the kids they had to wear their snowsuits, etc. When they were almost ready my sister noticed a little purse Asha got at a xmas party earlier today that says "Princess" on it. The conversation:

Sis: "Hey Asha, are you a princess?"
Asha: "If I was a princess would I be wearing this ugly snowsuit?"
Me: "Mwahahahahahahahaha"

So we get to the crick and park the truck in a parking lot facing the road so we can see the parade coming and keep warm. Just after we stop we start talking about Santa and the parade, etc. The conversation:

Lane: "What if Santa came on a motorcycle?"
Sis: "He'd really mess up the seat."
Me and Sis: giggles
Lane: "What's so funny?"
Me and Sis: hysterical laughter - I actually had to open the door to spit my pepsi out before it all came out my nose

Ah, so much fun so cheap :)

And woofuckinhoo, the govt finally found my paperwork and decided to give me some cash before xmas. So I'm doing a happy dance even though other areas of my life may not merit it :)

Yup

Here they are..............drumroll please - Punkin and Santa, the only men I'll ever love ;) Okay, so I sometimes call Santa Satan, he's kinda like that.

That's all I can type for tonight, some friends stopped by, we had a couple, now I'm going to bed so I can get up early and buy Ozzy tickets :)
